Safer orthodontic care comes standard with us

If you’re concerned about COVID-19 and going to an orthodontist, you’ll be pleased to know that your safety is our top priority. In fact, long before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Kristo Orthodontics established a standard of safety that few other orthodontists can match.

All along, we’ve maintained strict infection and cross-contamination prevention standards, even exceeding the recommended guidelines for orthodontic safety by the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). So rest assured, Kristo Orthodontics will continue to take all necessary precautions to protect the safety and well-being of every patient we treat.

Keeping you safe from COVID‑19

Please familiarize yourself with the following changes, so that you’ll know exactly what to expect regarding COVID-19 and going to your orthodontist. Below, we’ve listed some of the added orthodontic safety measures that will be in place during your next visit with us.

Patient arrival

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve pushed our usual advanced orthodontic safeguards even further, providing the orthodontic care you need in the safest possible environment. To ensure orthodontic safety, we’re following the CDC recommendations for social distancing. In keeping with their guidelines, we’ve implemented additional orthodontic safeguards in every Kristo clinic.

Limit the number of people with you

Please limit the number of people you bring with you to your visit. In most cases, we can follow up with parents afterwards.

Wear a mask or other face covering

Anyone entering the clinic will be required to wear a cloth face covering or mask. We’re unable to provide masks if you forget to bring one.

Practice social distancing

Dental chairs kept six feet apart to maintain a safe distance between patients.

Waiting room changes

For your safety, we are also trying to minimize your contact with other patients while in our waiting room. You’ll notice some changes during your next visit, such as:

Hand sanitizer use required

We’ve made hand sanitizer available and require it for anyone entering the clinic.

Minimized high‑touch surfaces

Magazines, paper reading materials, and tablets have been removed from the waiting rooms to prevent the spread of germs.

Limited, socially distanced seating

We’ve limited our seating accommodations and spaced the remaining seating further apart to aid social distancing.

Temporarily suspended refreshments

For your safety, no coffee or refreshments will be served at this time.

Staff requirements

As you can see, your Kristo Orthodontics team is doing everything possible to alleviate concerns related to COVID-19 and orthodontic treatment. We thank you in advance for doing your part, too.

Increased sanitization measures

Although we’re always careful about sanitization, you may notice our staff cleaning and sanitizing areas even more frequently than usual with our double wipe protocol.

Hand hygiene

Staff hand hygiene includes a 20-second wash or sanitizer before and after PPE changes or adjustments and after all patient contact.

Increased Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

Kristo Orthodontics staff members are required to wear scrubs, gloves, face masks, and face shields when working with our patients.
